Kara Tarot Terms of Use

Effective date: 14 October 2026
Version française : karatarot.com/fr/terms

Summary

This summary is for convenience. The full Terms below apply.

1. Who we are and what these Terms cover

1.1 The Kara Tarot app for iPhone and its Home Screen widget (the "app") are provided by Yaroslav Salimov, an individual developer based in Ukraine ("we", "us", "our"). Our contact details are in section 22.

1.2 Your agreement with us consists of:

1.3 If these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA controls for your license to use the app as obtained from the App Store. These Terms control for everything else, such as readings, Premium, allowances and acceptable use.

1.4 You accept these Terms by tapping Continue or Agree where the app shows them, or by using the app.

2. Who can use Kara Tarot

2.1 You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.

2.2 The app is offered through the App Store in the United States and Canada. It is for your personal, non-commercial use. You are responsible for following the laws that apply where you use it.

3. Entertainment and self-reflection only

3.1 Kara Tarot is offered solely for entertainment, amusement and self-reflection.

3.2 We don't claim that tarot cards, Kara or the app have supernatural, occult or psychic powers. We don't claim that they can predict the future or reveal hidden facts about you or anyone else. The cards in a reading are drawn through your choices in the app and the app's random shuffle.

3.3 Treat a reading as a prompt for your own reflection. You alone are responsible for your decisions. Please don't make important decisions based only on a reading.

3.4 You may not present readings from the app to other people as genuine fortune-telling or psychic services, or charge anyone for them.

4. AI-generated readings and Kara's synthetic voice

4.1 Personal interpretations are generated by artificial intelligence (Claude, made by Anthropic), based on your question, the topic you chose and the cards you drew. No person writes or reviews them, and we can't see them.

4.2 Kara is a fictional character, and her voice is synthetic. The voice is generated with ElevenLabs technology. It is not a recording of a real person reading your cards, and it doesn't represent any real person. The pre-recorded audio in the app, such as the card of the day and the card descriptions, uses the same synthetic voice.

4.3 The general card meanings and other texts in the app were written with the help of AI and edited by us.

4.4 AI has limits. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, repetitive, inconsistent or unsuitable for your situation. It may state things as facts that are wrong. Don't rely on any factual statement in an interpretation without checking it independently. Different users may receive similar readings.

4.5 If a reading seems inappropriate or harmful, please tell us at support@karatarot.com.

5. Not professional advice

5.1 Nothing in the app is medical, mental health, psychological, legal, financial, investment, tax or other professional advice. Nothing in it replaces such advice, diagnosis or treatment.

5.2 Always seek help from a qualified professional about your health, legal matters or money. Never ignore professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something in the app.

5.3 Readings that touch on these topics are meant only as prompts for reflection, not as instructions.

6. If you're in crisis

6.1 Kara Tarot is not a crisis or emergency service, and no person monitors it. If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, or you are in crisis, please reach out now:

6.2 If your question shows signs of crisis, the app may show a supportive message and these resources instead of a reading. When that happens, no personal reading or voiced reading is used.

6.3 This check is automated and imperfect. It may miss signs of crisis, or show resources when they aren't needed.

7. Free features and your gift reading

7.1 Free features currently include:

7.2 Gift reading. Each iPhone can receive one free personal reading. It includes the written interpretation and a short summary in Kara's voice.

7.3 We may add, change or remove free features.

8. Kara Tarot Premium

8.1 What's included. Premium includes the features described on the subscription screen when you subscribe. These currently are:

8.2 Price. US$24.99 per month in the United States. In Canada, the App Store shows the local price before you buy. Apple may add sales taxes where they apply.

8.3 Free trial. Eligible new subscribers get a 3-day free trial. Apple decides eligibility; generally, each Apple Account can use one introductory offer.

8.4 Automatic renewal.

8.5 How to cancel. You can cancel at any time in iPhone Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, or in your App Store account settings.

8.6 Price changes. If the price of Premium changes, Apple will tell you in advance. Where Apple's rules or the law require it, Apple will ask for your consent before the new price applies.

8.7 Refunds. Apple processes all purchases. We cannot issue refunds or see your payment details. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds follow Apple's policies. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund rights you have under applicable law.

8.8 Your devices. Premium works on all your devices that run the app and are signed in to the same Apple Account. Use Restore Purchases to restore Premium on a new device.

8.9 Family Sharing. Premium isn't available through Family Sharing. Each person needs their own subscription.

8.10 When Premium ends,

9. Voiced readings: how the allowance works

9.1 A voiced reading is one personal interpretation turned into audio in Kara's voice, up to about 2 minutes long.

9.2 Premium includes 10 voiced readings per monthly billing period. A billing period starts on the day your paid subscription starts or renews, not on the first day of a calendar month. The allowance refreshes at the start of each billing period. Unused voiced readings from your monthly allowance don't roll over.

9.3 A Celtic Cross reading (10 cards) uses 2 voiced readings. The app shows how many will be used before you tap.

9.4 Replaying a voiced reading saved in your journal is always free, including after your Premium ends.

9.5 If the voice can't be created, the voiced reading is returned to you. If the download is interrupted, you can voice that reading again once for free.

9.6 Voice may sometimes be unavailable, for example during a provider outage or high demand. You will still get the written interpretation, and no voiced reading is used. Please try again later.

9.7 Premium includes up to 5 personal interpretations per day.

9.8 Allowances are tied to your Premium subscription. They have no cash value and can't be transferred.

9.9 Changes to allowances. We may change allowances.

10. "+10 Voiced Readings" packs

10.1 A pack is a one-time (consumable) in-app purchase for US$9.99 (or the local price). It adds 10 voiced readings to your balance.

10.2 You can buy and use packs only while you have an active Premium subscription.

10.3 Pack readings are used only after the voiced readings included in your current billing period run out.

10.4 Pack readings don't expire. If your Premium ends, unused pack readings stay on your balance, and you can use them when you subscribe again.

10.5 We keep your pack balance on our server, linked to your Premium subscription, so it isn't lost if you reinstall the app or move to a new iPhone.

10.6 Apple handles refunds for packs. If Apple refunds a pack, we may remove the matching unused readings from your balance.

11. Your content, and our permission to process it

11.1 Your content means the questions, topics, journal entries and notes you enter. You keep all your rights in your content.

11.2 You allow us, and the service providers acting for us (Google, Anthropic and ElevenLabs), to process your content only as needed to provide the features you ask for, such as writing and voicing your personal readings. This permission is limited, non-exclusive, worldwide and free of charge, and processing follows our Privacy Policy. The permission ends when that processing is complete.

11.3 You are responsible for your content. Only submit content you have the right to share. Don't include other people's personal or confidential information without the right to do so. Leave out sensitive details you don't want processed.

11.4 Your readings. Subject to our rights in section 13, you may use the interpretations and audio created for you for personal, non-commercial purposes, including sharing them with friends or on social media. You may not:

11.5 Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, with no obligation to you.

12. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

13. Our intellectual property

13.1 We or our licensors own the app and everything in it, and copyright, trademark and other laws protect it. This includes:

13.2 Kara's voice is a synthetic voice from the ElevenLabs Voice Library, used under license. You may not extract it or use it outside the app.

13.3 Your license. You may use the app and its content only within the app, for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to the Standard EULA and these Terms. You may share images made with the app's share feature on social media for personal purposes, as long as:

13.4 We reserve all rights that these Terms don't expressly grant.

13.5 If you believe something in the app infringes your copyright, contact us at support@karatarot.com.

14. Third-party services

14.1 The app relies on services from:

Their own terms and privacy policies govern their services. Apple provides iCloud sync under your agreement with Apple.

14.2 We aren't responsible for the availability or content of third-party services.

14.3 When you use the app, you must follow any third-party terms that apply to you, such as Apple's Media Services Terms and your mobile data plan.

15. Availability and changes to the app

15.1 We work to keep Kara Tarot available, but we can't promise it will always work without interruption. Many features need an internet connection and third-party services.

15.2 We may change, suspend or remove features. For example, we may do this to fix security problems, respond to changes by our providers, or switch off a feature temporarily in an emergency.

15.3 If we significantly reduce what Premium includes, we will tell you in advance, and you can cancel. If we stop offering Premium altogether, we will stop renewals, and you can ask Apple for a refund under Apple's policies.

15.4 You may need to install updates to keep using the app.

16. Disclaimers

16.1 To the extent the law allows, we provide the app and all readings "as is" and "as available". We give no warranty that:

16.2 Some places don't allow these exclusions. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected, including in Quebec.

17. Limitation of liability

17.1 To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. We are also not liable for loss of data or profits, or for decisions you make based on a reading.

17.2 To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims relating to the app is limited to the greater of:

17.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, gross negligence or intentional misconduct. If you are a consumer in Quebec, sections 16 and 17 apply only as far as the Quebec Consumer Protection Act allows.

18. Suspension and termination

18.1 You can stop using the app at any time:

18.2 We may suspend or limit your access to personal or voiced readings, or end your access to the app, if:

Where reasonably possible, we will tell you first.

18.3 Sections 3–6, 11–13, 16, 17, 20 and 21 continue to apply after these Terms end.

19. Changes to these Terms

19.1 We may update these Terms. We will post the new version with a new effective date.

19.2 For a significant change, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using the app and cancel your subscription before then. If you keep using the app after the change takes effect, you accept the new Terms.

19.3 Changes don't apply to events that happened before they took effect.

20. Governing law and disputes

20.1 If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@karatarot.com. Most issues can be solved quickly.

20.2 If you live in the United States: these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Apple's Standard EULA uses the same law. You may bring a claim against us in the courts where you live, including small claims court if your claim qualifies. If we have a claim against you, we will bring it in the courts where you live.

20.3 If you live in Canada: these Terms are governed by the laws of your province or territory of residence and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. You may bring claims in the courts of your province or territory, including small claims court.

20.4 Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived by contract where you live.

21. General

21.1 These Terms, the Standard EULA and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the app.

21.2 If a court finds part of these Terms invalid, the rest still applies.

21.3 If we don't enforce a right, we haven't waived it.

21.4 We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms as part of a sale or transfer of the app. If we do, we will tell you, and your rights won't be reduced. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms.

21.5 We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Examples are outages at our service providers and natural disasters.

21.6 Language. These Terms are available in English and in French. The French version is at karatarot.com/fr/terms.
